The Dance of Discernment:
Building Clarity and Skill with Your SoulCollage® Deck

An online, self-paced course
Available summer of 2018 - date TBA
Discernment: 1) the ability to judge well; 2)  to grasp and comprehend what is obscure; 3) perception... obtaining spiritual direction and understanding
Why "Discernment?" It's a complex, essential skill that, when understood and refined, can lead us to larger happiness and greater success. It's at play when we choose where to live, whom to associate with, what job offer to take, which shirt to wear, or whether to venture down a poorly lit street. It's an aptitude of perception and decision-making that can keep us content, safe, engaged, authentic, and fulfilled. Discernment is a navigation tool to identify what is right for and true to you.

How does SoulCollage® fit in? Discernment depends on many of our "moving parts," those we've already met within our decks, and those yet to be discovered. When discernment's in action, clarity rules -  drawing from our knowledge, incoming information, emotional cues, and innate intuition. But our lives and our psyches are wrought with opportunities for confusion, obscurity, self-doubt, and second guessing. Our SoulCollage® decks offer a treasure chest from which to identify and integrate the aspects of ourselves that support Discernment, and those that hinder it.

In this 6-session journey, you'll look at old cards in new ways, make new cards, and dialogue among cards to build a scaffold of energies that support authentic assessments and sound choices. Drawing from your decks as whole, you'll explore the emotional, social, intuitive, and practical aspects of deep knowing, clear perspective, and wise determination. If you've not yet created a Discernment card, you'll certainly be inspired to do so! Reflecting on ancient wisdom, the Tarot and other sources, we'll journey through the intricate components of Discernment.

Whether your deck is or isn't organized into suits, or you are just beginning your practice - this course will be meaningful for you!

Here are some examples from my own personal deck. The first is my Sleuth (Council) who helps me dig deep to get the information I need. The second is Clueless (Committee), who has the capacity to completely miss crucial information that is staring me in the face! Last, my Discernment (Committee) card, which represents my ever-growing wisdom to discern.

Course structure

There are six sessions for which you'll receive, by email, a written guide to the topic and suggestions for explorations with your own cards (pdf file). Each contains a treasure of perspectives and ideas related to understanding and growing Discernment.

You'll be encouraged to participate in a secret Facebook Group to share your experiences, ask questions, and see what others are discovering.

LET'S TALK: Join an optional 75 minute teleconference discussion with your questions and comments.

Session 1: Meeting Discernment
Session 2: Emotional Foundations and Pitfalls
Session 3: Information Management
Session 4: The Role of Others
Session 5: Intuition, the Intangible Guide
Session 6: Discernment Emerges

A wonderful opportunity to take a fresh look at your cards.  I now have a long list of cards that I want to make.  Anne

I thought you did a great job of condensing a lot of complexities and ideas into an easy-to-follow course. ....Thank you, Michele, for another enriching course.  Stephanie

The information was delivered in manageable, bite-sized portions so that I could take it in without feeling overwhelmed. I loved that you shared examples from your own deck. The chaos of the world right now led me to this course....  Sara

Your "Card Games" opened up a whole new level with my deck. I realized so many cards really operated as a whole.  Pam

The (written) materials were so helpful. I'll be using them for a long time. Marie

Enjoy Michele's guided 6 minute audio exploration of some pathways to Discernment:

"If we could be gifted with discernment, and we could surround ourselves with loyal friends, we would have a life of great meaning: It would be constructive. It is important for us, then, to reform our mind by examining it in great detail." HH The Dalai Lama

"Discernment is the ability to grasp, comprehend, and evaluate clearly. It means we can see the true nature of things; it allows us to distinguish between what is real and what is imitation. This is one of those intangible qualities that cannot be taught, but can be developed and improved upon over time."
From Leadership Central

"Discernment is often far more accurate than either observation or measurement."  Stephen Covey
